I ask you ... "The Six Wines Of Calais"? Presumably this performance was sponsored by Threshers, or perhaps the type-setter had been over indulging.

That aside, this was clearly another very competent production. The last of the three plays must have presented particular challenges in the costume department (and, one assumes, the French accents department).

Clearly, this was a time when the Players' pool of acting members was somewhat biased towards the female of the species.

The newspaper article makes reference to planned improvements to the stage, and promises these in time for the next production. As we will see, the improvements will take somewhat longer than anticipated (regular viewers of "Grand Designs" will be familiar with the problem) and the Players will have to wait until the Autumn performance for the new facilities. Hey-ho ... "everything comes to he who waits" as they say.
